Have you seen these at your favorite pizza pizza restaurant or on social media? I thought they were such a fun idea too, and wondered how we could make them at home ourselves! Since we use muffin tins to make other dinner ideas I immediately thought that would be the best way and it was. (post may contain affiliate links present)
How to Make Little Caesars Crazy Puffs
You have a choice when it comes to the dough. Yes you could use homemade if you wanted to make them from scratch but refrigerated pizza dough or biscuits is even easier. One you will need to cut into circles which can be done with the top of a glass or cookie cutter while the other is already shaped.
As for the top you can just use a bottle of spaghetti sauce, mozzarella cheese and pepperoni are what we love but there are other toppings you could add for sure. It took us about 15 minutes to get everything ready and just as long to bake which was a pretty quick after school snack or fun dinner idea.

Little Caesars Crazy Puffs Ingredients
- Pizza dough or refrigerated biscuits flattened slightly so it fills hole and up on to the sides
- Sliced pepperoni is optional but makes them way better
- Mozzarella cheese that has been shredded, dairy free alternative could be used instead
- Pizza sauce or marinara to make and more pizza sauce for dipping
- Unsalted butter that has been melted is for the top to add flavor and make it gooey
- Italian seasoning is optional but adds flavor
- Garlic powder we add to them too
Pepperoni Pizza Puffs Recipe
- Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface.
- Cut the dough into 3 to 4 inch rounds.
- Put one circle into each well of the muffin cups, that has been sprayed with non stick spray first, press the middle down slightly..
- Place one pepperoni onto each dough circle.
- Drop about 1 tablespoon of shredded cheese in the center over each pepperoni. Top the cheese with about 2 teaspoons of pizza sauce and then two additional slices of pepperoni.
- Finish pizza puffs by topping each with mozzarella cheese.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine the melted butter, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
- When done, brush the butter mixture over each while they are still warm.
- Use a spoon to scoop out each one and enjoy immediately while warm.
How to make pizza puffs without a muffin tin
Use silicone baking cups instead!! If you don’t have one of these (which I can’t imagine you wouldn’t) you can use stiffer cups like these that can sit flat on a sheet pan and bake that way. A great alternative using reusable cups that work to bake muffins later as well.
OR use small porcelain dishes to make this into a ramekin recipe. You would need to use the 4 oz. size and just cut the dough to cover the bottom and up on to the sides to reach the top. In this case you may need a bit larger size but the baking time shouldn’t change much at all.
Air Fryer Pizza Cupcakes
You could use the silicone cups to bake them in a Ninja Foodi or air fryer to save time too!! You can follow the same steps as below to create them, using Grands biscuits seems to work best for this method. Preheat your machine to 400 degrees F. for 5 minutes. Set cups inside and air fry for about 4 minutes or until edges are golden brown and the cheese has melted.
Can you make crazy puffs with refrigerated biscuits?
Absolutely. Use Grands which are slightly larger. If you press slightly in your hands to flatten a bit they are the perfect size to fill the hole in a muffin pan. You want the bottom and sides all the way around to be filled so you have a cup of dough to fill with your toppings. Then load with sauce and cheese to bake!
How many calories in pepperoni pizza puffs?
That depends on what you are adding but with just pepperoni they are only about 80 calories each!! Unlike bagel bites you know exactly what is in these since making them homemade without preservatives and pretty low in calories too if you have a few for a quick meal. Yes, Pillsbury pizza dough is great to cut into large circles to fill each hole in your muffin pan. You can make it from scratch too, roll out and use a cookie cutter to make a 3 inch circle too if you’d rather.
Yes, that is the easiest method of all but there are alternatives. As we state here you can also use silicone baking cups on a sheet pan or small ramekins to bake in the oven and get the same basic outcome!

- 1 muffin tin

- 2 rolls pizza dough refrigerated, Pillsbury has one, or 24 refrigerated biscuits – Grands size flattened slightly to fill hole
- 3/4 – 1 c spaghetti sauce
- 3 c mozzarella cheese
- 1 package pepperoni
- 2 tbsp butter unsalted
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning optional
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder optional

- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Spray inside of muffin tin with non stick spray.
- Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface. Using a large biscuit cutter, or top of a large glass, cut the dough into 3 to 4 inch rounds. Put one circle of dough into each well of the muffin pan, pressing the middle down slightly..
- Place one pepperoni onto each dough circle.Then, drop about 1 tablespoon of mozzarella cheese in the center over each pepperoni. Top the cheese with about 2 teaspoons of pizza sauce and then two additional slices of pepperoni.
